Wild on Wildlife - Don't forget the camera!

You’re just crazy about wildlife? Then this small-group travel adventure to South Africa is especially for you.

Even if you’re not a complete fanatic, just a regular friend of Animal Planet, you’ll love this dedicated wildlife tour.  What you see on your television screen may enthral you but nothing beats being right there as a herd of elephants strolls across the road ahead of you.  Nothing sounds quite so eerie as a lion roaring in the night as you listen from the comfort of your bed.

Maybe you’ve yearned to take an African safari but camping and travelling in overland trucks is not your style. On this tour you’ll travel in comfortable air-conditioned vehicles and stay in lodges and chalets. Best of all you’ll have oodles of time and opportunities to just sit, relax and enjoy everyday encounters with the amazing wildlife and birdlife.  Your camera won’t get much rest though!

What will you see?  Much more than you can imagine right now. You’ll be looking out for lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, elephant, springbok, kudu, impala, waterbuck, hartebeest, zebra, hyaena, wilddog, giraffe, wildebeest, baboon, crocodile, hippo…..that’s just a start. Add in vultures, eagles, owls, storks, ibis, barbets, hornbills, rollers, hoopoe, shrikes, kingfishers. By tour’s end you’ll be quite the expert on mammal and bird species.

Your ‘game-spotter’ eyes will get a well-earned rest with a brief sojourn around spectacular Blyde River Canyon between parks.

PS: Scroll down for a gallery of characters you'll see.

OVER 900+ BIRD SPECIES IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

Southern Africa has a huge variety of bird species due to its climatic ranges; cooler in the southwest to hot and tropical in the north, as well as the latitude gradients which have produced a variety of habitats for so many species.

And don't forget the African sunsets...
