Frequently Asked Questions
| What is the Mirrabac philosophy? | To provide well crafted itineraries, quality accommodation and services of a high standard, as well as affording our travellers the opportunities to explore and expand their own horizons. Our hope is always that at the end of every tour all participants arrive back home having had an exceptional and memorable trip. Life's an Adventure - Be in it! |
| What's required to join a Mirrabac Adventure? | A willingness to participate and get along with others is essential. Mirrabac travellers should have an interest in the country we visit, including their people, the culture, the scenery and the wildlife. The South American, Turkey and Trans-Siberian adventures would also include an interest in archeological sites and history. |
| Why 'Travel Companions?' | Those who join Mirrabac Adventures are easy-going, flexible travel companions who are able to entertain themselves and also enjoy the company of others. They are independent individuals who have often done their own research, but prefer to share their new found discoveries in the companionship of other like-minded people. |
| What age group? | Our youngest Mirrabac traveller was 25 and our oldest 84, but generally the age group is between 40 and 75. As long as you are physically fit and mentally agile (or even mentally fit and physically agile!) age is not a barrier. A desire to have fun and a willingness to participate are essential. |
| Do I receive air-points? | On most Mirrabac adventures Mirrabac travellers are credited with air-point miles provided the Mirrabac traveller is signed up to the relevant Frequent Flyer programme. Please read Terms and conditions of the relevant airline concerned. |
| Can I use my air-points? | Mirrabac's favourable group travel prices are subject to minimum numbers travelling on the same airline and airfare, therefore on most tours we cannot accept bookings made with air-points. Exceptions - 'Wild on wildlife' and the 'Namibian Explorer' safaris. We will accept reservations for these two safaris from travellers wishing to use their air-points. Traveller/s will have to submit their request to use their air-points directly with the airline concerned. |
| Can I use air-points to upgrade? | Air-points upgrade: On all tours as long as you have purchased the group package you have the option to apply to the airline concerned (through Mirrabac) for an upgrade to premium economy or business. |
| Can I purchase premium economy or a business class airfare? | On all Mirrabac tours you have the option to purchase a premium economy or business class fare on any of the sectors you choose (subject to availability). |
| Are these photographic workshops? | In a nutshell - No. If you are interested in obtaining some outstanding images of scenery, wildlife or archeological sites (depending on the adventure destination) then many opportunities will present themselves. |
| Do I have to be a 'top-gun' photographer? | First an foremost the trips are about 'soaking-up' and enjoying the places we visit, but most travellers are keen to 'capture' the experience on camera. Some are keen amateur photographers but many come equipped with only a 'point and shoot'. The Mirrabac Adventure Team have sought out places of photographic interest with spectacular scenery and some of the world's premier wildlife/archeological locations. Whatever your level of interest in photography you will return home with some wonderful stories and images of your travels. |
| What should I pack? What should I wear? What currency is used? What are the climatic conditions like during our tour? | Once your booking is confirmed the Mirrabac Adventure Team will mail out a "pre-departure information pack'. This pack answers many of your questions as well as other useful information on what to pack, electricity facilities, vaccinations, passport requirements, luggage, banking including credit card/eftpos facilities, internet, telephone, and more..... |
| Luggage size? | In the Mirrabac 'pre-departure kit-list' we recommend what to pack for the trip as well as a recommended/preferred luggage size. Note: We do not accept 'kitchen-sinks!' |
| What are the meals like? | All our current adventures are hotel orientated, therefore all meals are restaurant meals at hotels or lodges except on Southern African safaris where on occasion you will be treated to Rob's cooking. |
If you wish to be happy yourself, you must resign yourself to seeing others happy.
