Namibian Explorer Safari Alaska and the Great Bear Rainforest BC; Canada. 2010 Valerie |
"The tour was very well organised. Accommodation was excellent, with a nice balance of hotels and lodges, all with en suite facilities. Meals everywhere were very good, a wide enough variety to cater for any dietary needs or preferences. Coach transport was superior. Thank you Rob for the opportunity to learn about areas of geological interest, tips on taking good photographs and places of historical significance. Thanks also for your meticulous attention to detail, care and thoughtfulness for our comfort. Best wishes for future tours." Namibian Explorer safari 2008 Valerie's adventure hint: Take trousers that 'zip-off' at the knees. Take a travel clothesline. Galapagos Turkey & Egypt Barbara |
"Approaching shore after snorkeling around the rocks out in the bay I was suddenly joined by sea lions. Initial feelings of nervousness were soon replaced by wonder, awe and excitement as, first one then another swam towards me, then veered away, seemingly inviting me to swim with them. I joined in trying to keep up, twisting and turning as best I could and marveling at their speed and agility as they darted through the water. What a magical feeling, when I realised the tickling sensation along my arm and across my cheek was the light brushing of sea lions whiskers!" "It was great to be a member of a small group of 16 on a 16 berth launch dedicated to our comfort and pleasure. The trip was also a great way to make new friends." Galapagos Explorer 2008 Barbara's adventure hint: "We had a couple of occasions on the launch where the sea got a little choppy and therefore I recommend to those with "wobbly sea-legs" to bring appropriate medication." Barbara and her husband have previously travelled with Mirrabac to: Turkey and Egypt in August 2005 Namibia June 2007 |
Wild on Wildlife Safari Turkey & Egypt Namibian Explorer Safari Trans Siberian Railway Galapagos & Easter Island May 2008 Noel Young |
"Rob's local knowledge and organising abilities meant that we had "no worries" at all. His photographic advice and his ability to see photographic opportunities put us in a position where we could take advantage of various subjects, and this helped tremendously. I thoroughly enjoyed the safari and have bought back some great photographs and memories." Wild on Wildlife safari 2004 Noel's adventure hint: "A polarizing filter is a must. Also get the best zoom/telephoto lens you can afford. You will get greater opportunities for great photographs." Noel has travelled with Mirrabac to: South Africa 'Wild on Wildlife" safari 2004 Turkey and Egypt - August 2005 Trans Siberian Railway - 2007 Galapagos and Easter Island - May 2008 |

Splendours of Peru Namibian Explorer Safari Dennis & Jeanette |
"Thanks Rob & Maureen for organising a wonderful trip to the special places of Peru and Bolivia. The local guides were great, the food and accommodation excellent. Being in a small group gave us the time to meet the locals in their own environment. This gave us the opportunity to learn a lot about their culture and lifestyle. We are looking forward to another trip with Mirrabac." Splendours of Peru 2010 Dennis and Jeanette also travelled with Mirrabac on the Namibian Explorer safari 2011 |
Splendours of Miri M |
"The South America trip was one of the most memorable trips I have ever undertaken. It covered everything I had hoped it would. This included the magnificent Amazon, Machu Pichu, Iguassu Falls and the world renowned Bird Park; Lake Titicaca, its islands, the Uros people, the cities of La Paz, Rio and Buenos Aires plus many places in between. The value for money was amazing, the hotels and inclusions were first class. Although I am healthy and reasonably fit I was worried about my age (70). The purchase of a walking pole at a local market was a great help with the many steps. Thank you for your attention to detail and for our friendly small group. It was a wonderful trip." Splendours of South America 2011 |
Splendours of Heidi lau |
"Peru - land of history with magnificent ruins and traditions. Modern food experience at the Reserva Amazonica Lodge in the Amazon - big white corn kernels, heart of palm and of course Pisco sour! Colourful costumes and spices at Lake Titicaca andI had fun getting wet at Iguacu Falls. I met my favourite toucan at the Bird Park at Iguacu. Most of all, the companionship. Thank you soooo much for a fantastic few weeks!" We asked Heidi if she felt if there was anything we could be improve on, or if there was anything she was not happy about. Here's her answer..."I had a ball and don’t think there is anything I would like to change." Splendours of South America 2011 |
Galapagos Namibian Explorer Safari Paul Prosee |
"For me this Mirrabac adventure lived up to only half its name! The "adventure" part was unavoidable where-as the "Mirrabac" part was nonexistent! (See Mirrabac's story on the 'About Us' page). But this was a good thing because at the Galapagos there was no "putting the mirror back" as the wildlife was right in our faces or at our feet. Thanks for the unforgettable wildlife encounters!" Paul's adventure hint: "Bring comfortable clothes (not too many - go for the layers strategy) plenty of film or memory cards, a good appetite, a bagful of smiles and a flexible attitude. With these you are guaranteed to have a ball as well as an adventure." Galapagos Explorer 2008 Paul has previously travelled with Mirrabac: Namibian Explorer safari 1997 and 2007 |
Galapagos Namibian Explorer Safari Jo |
"The scheduling of activity and 'free time' was set in such a way that visiting sites and places of interest were not too rushed which allowed time for rest and reflection as well." Jo's adventure hint: "Be prepared to enjoy the company of others and make new friends. Adhere to the health and safety advice provided by Rob (Mirrabac) and you should have a safe and illness free holiday." Galapagos Explorer 2008 Jo has previously travelled with Mirrabac on the - Namibian Explorer safari 2005 |

"I was most impressed by the organisation, the company, the relaxed atmosphere and of course all the wonderful sights we saw in South America. Keep up the good work and I look forward to travelling with you again in the future." - Splendours of South America 2009 "Whilst it was fairly "full-on" there was a nice "laid-back" atmosphere, well organised as usual and great company. Thoroughly enjoyable." - Galapagos Explorer 2008 "What to say! The trip was an amazing magical experience. Well organised, laid-back and Rob's cooking wasn't too bad either. Rob shared his knowledge of the country a well as his knowledge on photography and it was great." - Namibian Explorer 2001 Jenny has travelled with Mirrabac to: Namibia - Namibian Explorer safari 2001 South Africa - Southern Special safari - September 2002 Galapagos & Easter Island - May 2008 South America - Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina - 2009 |

Galapagos Namibian Explorer Safari Judy |
"Going to the Galapagos was a dream come true. The mixture of islands at the Galapagos plus Easter Island was such a sharp contrast to the cities of Ecuador and Chile. Great company on tour, fun and happiness." Judy's adventure hint: "Leave room in the suitcase when packing (pre-departure) for a bit of shopping. Great leather and woollen markets in Ecuador and very inexpensive. Take cash in smaller notes and casual clothes." Galapagos Explorer 2008 Judy has since travelled with Mirrabac on the - Namibian Explorer safari 2010 |
Namibian Explorer Safari Turkey & Egypt Ray & Barbara Living |
"We thoroughly enjoyed our Namibian experience which surpassed all our expectations. Rob's exceptional planning for both travel and accommodation made it all so enjoyable. The size of the group appealed to us and we all got to know everyone well. We are still having a lot of pleasure sharing photos and fun experiences." Ray and Barbara's adventure hint: "Take a good camera with plenty of film or memory cards if it's a digital. A polarizer is a great advantage and a good pair of binoculars per person." Namibian Explorer 2007 Ray and Barbara has previously travelled with Mirrabac to: Turkey and Egypt 2005 |
Trans Siberian Railway Turkey & Greek Islands Sarah |
"Initial contact was all positive. Early queries were answered fully and quickly. On the Trans Siberian Adventure pre-arrangements happened as they should; Rob took care of any small problems immediately. Great trip, great time, good fun, good group." Sarah's adventure hint: "Don't take too many clothes, less is definitely better. Minimise toiletries - or at least the container size. Take re-chargeable batteries, a re-charger and don't forget the adaptor. Always have a couple of batteries charged as spares. Imagine that unforgettable scene and flat batteries!" Trans Siberian Railway Journey 2007 Sarah has also travelled with Mirrabac to: Turkey and Greek Islands 2008 |

Trans Siberian Railway Namibian Explorer Safari John Wells |
I am totally impressed with the quality of your product. I asked myself why I don't have to queue up for a trip with Mirrabac - and supply a character reference. I presume you want to maintain/grow the business, and I decided a response deserved more than the 30 - 50 words you have asked for. So without any science here goes: Strengths: * Extremely cost effective. High value for money. I think this is another way of saying my impression of these two trips ( The Namibian Explorer 2004 and the Trans Siberian Railway Journey 2007) deliver a high value product for a ridiculously small outlay. * The 'things' worth seeing are seen. * The planning and organisation are good. * The small group size. Participants have similar expectations, group dynamics are generally good. * The chance to get to know really interesting people on the adventure. For example, I would have happily paid more for the privilege of travelling with some of your interesting travellers such as....(names have been removed for privacy reasons). * The Mirrabac cocoon is right for my age, tolerance and relatively limited time available. It is great to have a free-mind' to absorb the sights and sounds without having to worry about travel trivia such as the next hotel, meals, etc. Oh, those bedraggled backpackers wandering around Moscow looking for accommodation come readily to mind - not my scene. You at Mirrabac also allow enough space for DIY extras." John has also travelled with Mirrabac on the: Namibia to Cape Town safari in 2004 |

Namibia to Cape Town safari, Aug/Sept 2004 Alaska and the Great Bear Rainforest BC; Canada. 2010 Alan and Barbara Ramsey |
"Our adventure will always remain a great memory. The scenery was fantastic, it was varied and colourful and the wildlife was amazing. We had many nights in game parks that contrasted with other tours that seemed to 'rush in' and the 'rush out'. Rob is also a fantastic 'spotter' of game. There were no hidden extra costs but we were given a lot of extras. We thoroughly enjoyed travelling with an experienced person who went the extra mile" Alan and Barbara's adventure hint: "The photo opportunities are endless, therefore take the best camera you can afford, a telephoto lens for the wildlife and make sure you have a polarizer for the landscape shots. Take good binoculars. Think of going sooner rather than later". Namibia to Cape Town safari 2004 Alan and Barbara have since travelled with Mirrabac on the - Alaska & the Great Bear Rainforest adventure 2010 |
Wild on Wildlife safari Alaska and the Great Bear Rainforest BC; Canada. 2010 Mervyn and Edith Ladbrook |
"We were impressed by Rob's wide knowledge of the habits of the birds and animals and the effort he made to obtain the best position for us for photography. Viewing was not rushed and stops were made to view anything of interest. A memorable adventure." Mervyns's adventure hint: "For photographing animals take the best lens you can afford. A 400/500mm (for film) is an advantage particularly for the birds." Wild on Wildlife and Namibian Explorer safaris combined 2004 Edith has since travelled with Mirrabac on the - Turkey and Greek Islands 2008 Alaska & the Great Bear Rainforest adventure 2010 see comments below - "There were two contrasting chapters to this adventure - being in the picture postcard scenery of Alaska along with the variety of travel, accommodation and activities of which some are exhilarating, made for a special and memorable trip. The comfort on the ketch in the Great Bear Rainforest allows one to enjoy nature at its best. A fabulous journey with Spirit Bear sightings included." - Edith - Alaska and the Great Bear Rainforest 2010 |

Namibia Explorer safari,
June 1997 South America South Africa Jenny Colegrove |
"I loved the time we spent quietly watching the wildlife, while other people and groups seemed to rush about. For me, Namibia has been one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited - a life changing experience." - Namibian Explorer 1997 "South America was so surprising, particularly Easter Island. The Galapagos Islands were also a wonderful worthwhile experience. I would travel again (with Rob)." - South America 1999. "The 'Wild on Wildlife safari' in 2003 is my third adventure with Rob. Kruger National Park has always been a 'must see' for me and it exceeded my expectations. Once again, having the time to sit and watch the wildlife on Rob's adventures makes any wildlife enthusiasts experience all the more enjoyable."

Spectacular Namibia safari,
June 1997 South American Explorer Turkey & Greek Islands Maggie |
"Namibia was the most exciting country I have ever visited. The scenery, the African wildlife combined with the relaxed tour atmosphere and Rob's experience made it a trip not to be missed." Maggie 's adventure hint: "Have the best camera that you can afford, with the capability of taking both wide angle and telephoto shots. Many wonderful photographic opportunities are lost without 'zoom' capabilities." Spectacular Namibia safari 1997 Maggie has also travelled with Mirrabac to: South America in April 1999 Turkey and the Greek Islands - September 2008 |
